Abstract

Arrival of more than one million of migrants from the Middle East, Africa and Asia, on the European soil represents social and geopolitical earthquake. Intensity and proportions of migrations bear unseen risks and problems. Triggers of refugee and migrant crisis are still active (Syria, Yemen), conflicts of low intensity (Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan and South Sudan, Libya, Somalia), instability (Mali, Nigeria, Palestine), potential for crisis (Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia), and persisting negative economic trends. In overall research of the triggers of refugee crisis it is necessary to respond to following questions: 1) is actual crisis just the beginning of the long trend, 2) what is the impact of the crisis on transit countries, 3) what are security consequences and challenges for transit and recipient countries. Solutions of the problem are impossible to achieve with particular actions of recipient or transit countries. Hence, what is required is coordination of activities of all relevant international organisations (UN, EU, African Union) and leading world and regional countries (USA, Russia, China, Germany and Turkey).
