Abstract
Despite the fact that borders exist only in the imagination of people, they present one of the main points of conflict in international law. furthermore, it is probably a type of dispute that most often escalates into war. This is why the issue of borders is particularly sensitive and should be approached with special diligence — whether in its forming or changing. Unfortunately, that is often not the case. The author will demonstrate how the issue of borders and people’s sensitivity to this question is often used as a political tool in Western Balkans — whether through escalating it in rhetorics or avoiding resolving borders issues in order to have it ready as a method of distraction from various internal economic and corruption issues. The short analysis of the borders, with a focus on the borders in Western Balkans, will be used to demonstrate that reasoning that EU integrations of the Western Balkans will remedy border issues is simply wrong.
