Abstract

Disruptions in the system of international economic relations following the Covid-19 pandemic have put global supply chains and world capital markets at risk, affecting key sectors of industrial production, energy and services. Many countries have experienced a decrease in GDP and an increase in public debt as a result of the severe recessionary impact. The negative economic effects have become increasingly visible on the global social level, which has necessitated a stronger multilateral response based on clear and transparent rules and principles based on solidarity, unity and international cooperation. The European Union (EU), as the second largest global economy, has taken a leading role in addressing the global crisis, working closely with key international institutions. Given the dimensions of the disruption in the system of international economic relations, the EU is striving to adapt to the crisis situation by establishing new priorities for international cooperation and taking decisive measures to prevent and remedy the negative consequences of the economic crisis. Working on the adoption of strategic documents and action plans, the EU has adopted the European Green Deal as a set of strategically important documents that present a new approach to the transformation of the European economy in line with the global agenda for the world future.
